■ Abstract : The flow of light can be controlled through the size and shape of nanostructures. When the nanostructures are made on the surface of solar cells, photons of the desired wavelength can be absorbed. The nanostructures forming on the surface of the LED (light emitting diode) allow photons to emit from the active layer, leading to effectively extraction of photons. In this presentation, we will present key technologies on nanoscale interfacial engineering and architecture of nanostructure for high performance light emitting devices, working on decades so far. Several key technologies to realize vertical LED and to get extremely flat surface of metallic thin film, transferred to industries for mass production, will be introduced.
