□ Abstract :

Recently, polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are has been attracted great attention as a promising alternative power train for the ultimate eco-car, fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV), which is now deploying in the real life, because of the zero emissions, quick refuel time, high energy efficiency and power density. Despite recent advances of PEMFC for the decades, high cost and lack durability are still key issues to address for expanding of the penetration of FCEV in to market. The performance of PEMFC decreases gradually during the operation that mainly stems from the degradation of the electrolyte membrane, catalyst and carbon support in the membrane electrode membrane (MEA). Thus, the development of electrode technology including catalyst in the MEA is needed to improve the performance and the durability. In this presentation, the development examples for improving the performance and durability of MEA will be presented.
