· Abstract:

The revolution of artificial intelligence is fundamentally transforming the role of electronic and mechatronic devices, enabling more active engagement in our daily lives. Although we are accustomed to electronic devices made from rigid materials, there is a growing demand for conductive materials in new form factors that offer enhanced physical adaptability and deformability, promoting compatibility with humans. In this talk, I will discuss novel electrical functionalities of various polymeric conductors, which serve as core materials for constructing artificial skin devices capable of sensing pressure, strain, and temperature, as well as collecting bio-signals from humans. Additionally, I will discuss a new molecular design strategy that combines the strengths of polymer and ceramic electrolytes to advance next-generation energy storage systems, addressing the growing energy demands. The importance of understanding the correlation between charge transport mechanisms and chain reorientation (or rearrangement) behavior will be emphasized in designing the electro-mechanical properties of polymeric conductors.
