■ Abstract : Functional surface coatings have been inevitably used for various interior and exterior applications. LX Hausys provides functional coatings for decorative films, flooring sheets and tiles of interior products with using radiation curable formulations. The important properties of surface coatings are known as scratch resistance, abrasion resistance, gloss, ultra-violet resistance (anti-yellowing), anti-stain, anti-graffiti, etc. In case of super-matte(low gloss) coatings, especially, it is hard to achieve good stain-resistance due to the rough surface which makes the matte surface. In this talk, radiation curable coating formulations based on acrylates are investigated for decorative films and the developed coating exhibits both low gloss and high anti-stain at the same time. The effects of chemistry, functional groups and molecular weights of oligomer and monomer acrylates are studied for optimal balance of surface properties, and it is discussed that how radiation processes make a difference in terms of surface properties and processing conditions.
