KAIST's Department of Materials Science and Engineering ranks 18th in the world and No. 1 in Korea in QS.


KAIST's Department of Materials Science and Engineering ranked 18th in the world in this year's global university evaluation. It ranks first in Korea.

In addition, the Materials Science and Engineering department is the only department at KAIST that has entered the world's top 20.


On the 22nd, QS, a British university evaluation agency, announced the ranking by major in the 2023 World University Rankings by Subjects on its website.


KAIST's Department of Materials Science and Engineering ranked 18th, up two notches from last year.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) ranked first in the world in material science. Stanford University in the U.S. and Cambridge University in the U.K. followed.

KAIST ranked first among domestic universities, followed by Seoul National University and POSTECH third.


Hong Seung-beom, head of the Materials Science and Engineering division, said, "The research results in the new material field are close to the world level, but international cooperation is somewhat disappointing," adding, "We will strengthen the international network of the department to increase international reputation."
