01 NEWSJoo Woong-yong's alumni donated 50 million won to build a new MRL.(August 29, 2022)
"MRL KAIST" is an "AI-based extreme material research institute" established by the Dept. of Materials Science and Engineering for future high-tech materials research. MRL KAIST, which will be built over four stories, is a location that allows one-stop research from exploration of future new materials, process development, measurement and analysis, and plans to establish an industry-academic cooperation system to ultimately enable Lab-to-Market transition.
Through this, the Dept. of Materials Science and Engineering expects to drastically shorten the material development period with an eventual goal to enter Global Top 10 universities in the field of material engineering.

02 NEWSMRL KAIST New Fund Delivery Ceremony.
The KAIST Dept. of Materials Science and Engineering has been raising funds for the "MRL KAIST New Construction" since the beginning of this year.

03 NEWSProf. Il-doo Kim’s startup company ‘IDK Lab’ received an investment of 3.5 billion won.
'IDK Lab', founded by Prof. Il-doo Kim, received an investment of 3.5 billion won.
Of the total amount, KRW 3 billion was invested by POSCO Technology Investment, and KRW 500 million in investment was received from Hanyang ENG. 'IDK Lab', a company specializing in safety diagnosis, has developed a product that uses an optical sensing method to check for toxic gas leaks.

05 NEWSProf. Hyuck Mo Lee was awarded the Order of Science and Technology Merit. (April 21, 2022)
He was awarded the Order of Science and Technology Leap Forward for his contribution to science and technology promotion at the '2022 Science Information and Communication Day' ceremony held at the Korea Science and Technology Center.

KenHee Ryou presented on Hot cracking prevention mechanism by adding Hf into the Ni-based superalloy during the additive manufacturing.
