New equipment

  • New Atomic Force Microscope, Cypher ES is available. The Cypher ES is designed for high resolution imaging and fast scanning of material surfaces. The ES scanner for imaging samples in liquids or controlled gas environments has a gas perfusion cell, liquid perfusion cell, heater sample cell (ambient up to 250°C), cooling and heating sample cell (0-120°C), and controlled environment CAFM cell. It also provides broadest compatibility with harsh chemicals. The instrument has blueDrive for photothermal excitation of the cantilever which provides a clean drive response of the cantilever for tapping mode applications in air and liquids. This instrument is in an acoustic and air temperature-controlled housing.

    Imaging Modes : Tapping Mode, Contact Mode, Force Spectroscopy, Fast Scanning Tapping Mode, Phase Imaging, Quantitative Nanomechanical Measurements, AMFM, Electrochemistry, Scanning Kelvin Probe, CAFM (ORCA and dual gain ORCA), Force Modulation, blueDrive photothermal cantilever excitation, and Imaging in Liquids, controlled gas environments and controlled temperature (Oxford Instruments Asylum Research, 2018).
  • New Atomic Layer Deposition System
    Atomic Layer Deposition is available. ALD is designed for ferroelectric thin films ALD has a lots of advantages; Low Temperature, Low scale deposition, 3D structure deposition. ALD is using for fabrication of ferroelectric memory device. Our ALD is able to deposit until 330℃ and easily deal with deposition.
  • The Korean Nation Research Foundation (NRF) awarded combined M.S. & Ph.D. student, Seongwoo Cho, the Global Ph.D. Fellowship Grant to fund his research.

    A research team under Professor Kyung-Wook Paik in the Department of Materials developed an anchoring polymer layer structure that can effectively suppress the movement of conductive particles during the bonding process of the anisotropic conductive films (ACFs).
