■ Abstract :
Since organic semiconductors, i.e. materials with spatially extended p-bonding system have offered unique physical properties, unobtainable for conventional materials, significant research efforts directed to better understanding of their chemistry, physics and engineering have been undertaken in the past two and half decades. Herein, the synthesis, characterisation and investigation of conjugated semiconducting organic materials for electronic applications are discussed. Organic semiconductors can be used as active components of plastics electronics such as organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), organic photovoltaic cells (OPVs), organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), etc. The scientific background and results reflected in systematic and logical approaches towards the goal of developing functional materials for organic electronic are presented.
