 Abstract :  

Nature evolves protein sequences for a great variety of structural and functional tasks. This programmability makes proteins ideal for engineering of structural assemblies. We have developed computational protein designs that generate hybrid assemblies between multi-dimensional carbon materials and proteins. In particular, we set out to apply principles of protein to engineer peptides that form well-ordered structures on the surface of single-walled carbon nanotubes and more carbon allotropes such as graphene and fullerene. In this talk, we will discuss our success on De Novo design for engineering assemblies of functions as well as the application of these materials that are quite unprecedented in nature. Recently, our research focuses on therapeutic protein design in order to understand biological processes relevant to human disease and target to the clinical tries.
