 Abstract :

Liquid phase electrical discharge processes have been recently studied in nanoparticle synthesis. A special type of liquid plasma process, named belongs to the non-equilibrium plasma process which occurred with a discharge voltage, current and frequency, respectively, in the range of 1 kV, 1 A and 103 Hz. The process offers a new reaction medium, where the active species and chemical reactions can be altered by varying the liquid media. These unique properties and novel reaction kinetics promote fast reaction and high density of radicals for the application of nano particle synthesis. In this seminar, three main material synthesis process and their application will be covererd: (1) Fast synthesis of sized-controlled metal and hybrid carbon/metal nanoparticles, (2) Tunable chemical structure of carbon-based catalysts and, (3) Surface functionalization of carbon or metal materials.
