박사과정 자격시험 세부규정

 

◉ 박사과정 자격시험 신규 규정 적용시기: (2027년 1월 시험부터 적용)

- 2020년이후 박사과정 입학생은 입학 후 1년이내 최초 응시해야 함. (최대 2회 가능)

 

◉ 필기 시험 실시 (총 배점 100점)

- 교과서 “Introduction to Materials Sci. & Eng.” : ‘열역학/상평형/상태도’, ‘결정구조’, ‘확산현상’, ‘전기적 성질’, ‘기계적 성질’ 위주로 평가

 

◉ 합격기준: 70점

ㅇ 70점 미만 : 1회에 한하여 재응시

ㅇ 2회차 최종시험 점수 69점~ 40점 :  조건부 합격 가능 (조건: 지도교수 사유서 작성 및 추천서 졸업 불가)

ㅇ 2회차 최종시험 점수 40점미만 :  제적

 

◉ 박사과정 자격시험 실시 시기 : 매년 1월 과 7월 2회 실시

 

◇ 경과 조치:

ㅇ 舊자격시험 1회차 불합격자가 新자격시험에 응시하는 경우, 2회차 최종 응시에 해당하며 ‘합격, 조건부합격, 제적’ 여부는 新자격시험 세부규정을 따른다.

Detailed Regulations for the Ph.D. Qualifying Examination

 

◉ Implementation of the New Regulations for the Ph.D. Qualifying Exam:

(Applicable to Exams from January 2027)

- Ph.D. students admitted from 2020 onwards are required to take the first Qualifying Exam within one year of admission.

(Up to 2 attempts allowed in total)

 

◉ Written Exam (Total score: 100 points)

- The evaluation will primarily focus on the following key topics from the textbook, “Introduction to Materials Sci. & Eng.”

: ‘Thermodynamics/Phase Equilibria/Phase Diagrams’, ‘Crystal Structures’, ‘Diffusion Phenomena’, ‘Electrical Properties’, and ‘Mechanical Properties’.

 

◉ Pass Criterion: 70 points

ㅇ Below 70 points: Only one retake is permitted.

ㅇ Second (Final) attempt

- Score 40 – 69 points: Conditional pass* may be granted.

         *Conditions: (1) Must submit a statement of reasons

                         (2) Ineligible for graduation by recommendation

- Score below 40 points: Academic Dismissal.

 

◉ Schedule of the Ph.D. Qualifying Exam: Twice a year (January & July)

 

◇ Transitional Provisions

 

 

ㅇ If a student who failed the first attempt under the former Qualifying Examination takes the New Qualifying Examination, it shall be regarded as the Second (final) attempt. The determination of ‘Pass, Conditional Pass, or Dismissal’ shall follow the regulations of the New Qualifying Examination.
